Meet Kevin

I fell in love with the movies the way most people fall in love — suddenly, and then all at once. For me it was a battered VHS of a film I was probably too young to be watching, the room dark, the world outside forgotten. By the time the credits rolled I understood that what I'd just seen wasn't a way to pass the time. It was a way to feel less alone.

I'm not a film professor. I don't have an award on a shelf. What I have is forty years of sitting in dark rooms, paying attention, and falling for the same magic trick over and over — light projected onto a wall, somehow becoming memory, grief, joy, and truth. CinephileHub is where I get to hand that magic to you.

What This Site Is

This is not a database. It is not a ratings aggregator. There are no scores out of ten here, because a number has never once helped me understand why a film moved me. Instead, every entry is a conversation — me telling you, as honestly as I can, what a film is doing, why it's beautiful, and whether you should give it your evening.

I chose every title on this site personally. Some are universally beloved; some are demanding works that ask something of you. I've sorted them by how much they'll ask: an Easy Watch meets you where you are; a Challenging film rewards a little patience; an Essential Study is for the night you're ready to truly engage. None of those labels are about quality. They're about what kind of evening you're in the mood for.

How to Use It

Wander. Browse by genre, search for something specific, or just follow the featured film and see where it takes you. Each review tells you where to watch — and wherever I can, I point you toward the free and library options first, because a love of film should never depend on the size of your wallet.

If something here sends you to a movie you'd never have found on your own, then this whole project has done its job. Welcome in. Pull up a seat. The lights are going down.
